Wildlife Crime & Rural Affairs Strategies

Last month, the National Police Chief’s Council (NPCC) launched the first policing strategies to tackle wildlife and rural crime across the UK.

Over the last 14 months the Wildlife Crime Policing Strategy and Rural Affair’s Strategy have been developed through inclusive consultation with the our wide network of partners including the National Rural Crime Network (NRCN).

This essential contribution and feedback helped shape and create a strategic direction, which has now been agreed by all Chief Constables in the UK as the way forward. We are all very thankful  for everyone’s contribution to these pieces of work.

This is a significant step forward to safeguarding our wildlife, strengthening safe and prosperous communities, as well as addressing the concerns raised in the recent findings of the NRCN 2018 Rural Crime Survey. These strategies have the support of the Association of Police and Crime Commissioners (APCC) and the Home Office. It is important that all police and partners work together, moving forward to make these strategies a reality.
