NRCN calls on next PM to tackle rural crime

NRCN Chair, Tim Passmore has written to both candidates in the Conservative Party leadership race asking for their commitment to tackle rural crime if they become Prime Minister. Tim has asked each candidate to commit to supporting a National Rural Crime Unit and extra resources for funding local Rural Crime Teams.

Tim Passmore, Chair of the Rural Crime Network  commented:

“The NFU Mutual report is clear evidence that the cost of rural crime is rising again. The cost of rural crime impacts on all of us whether it’s extra costs for food production or paying more taxes to deal with illegal fly tipping. We must not become complacent about tackling crime in our rural communities and I am calling on both Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak to take action if they become our next PM.”

Tim added:

“Many people in rural communities live in isolated or remote areas and often feel that their concerns are not taken seriously. The Rural Crime Network and our partners will continue to campaign for extra resources to support those in rural areas.”
